Sensitive and passionate by nature, Wamen takes her intriguing stage name from
her deep roots, in homage to her grandmother, a central figure in her personal
development, both as a woman and as an artist. It was thanks to her father that
she developed her passion for music, drawing inspiration from icons such as
Aretha Franklin, Richard Bona, Jacques Brel and Brenda Fassie. From an early
age, Wamen was fascinated by the vocal performances of the greats. Wamen
