Wynona Merceris Carr, born on August 23, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, was an
American gospel, R&B, and rock and roll singer. In the late 1940s, she signed to
Specialty Records and recorded under the name Sister Wynona Carr. Her early work
included notable tracks like "The Ball Game". Carr later transitioned to rock
and roll and R&B, recording from 1955 to 1959. Despite scoring an R&B hit with
"Should I Ever Love Again?" in 1956, her career was hampered by health issues.
