Xmal Deutschland
German goth heroes Xmal Deutschland formed in Hamburg in 1980. Initially an
all-female band, they were particularly successful internationally and took
their sound from dark wave and post-punk. The group initially consisted of Anja
Huwe (vocals), Manuela Rickers (guitar), Fiona Sangster (keyboards), Rita
Simonsen (bass) and Caro May (drums). Their debut single "Großstadtindianer" was
released in 1981 and they landed an underground hit with the song " Incubus
Succubus" in 1982. One year later, their debut album Fetisch was released.
