Yank Rachell
James "Yank" Rachell, born James A. Rachel on March 16, 1910, near Brownsville,
Tennessee, was an American country blues musician known for his mandolin skills.
He received his first mandolin at age eight and began performing with Hambone
Willie Newbern. Rachell formed the Three J's Jug Band with Sleepy John Estes and
Jab Jones, recording for Victor in the late 1920s. He returned to farming in the
1930s but continued studio work, notably with Bluebird Records in 1938,
