Young_spirit
Young Spirit are a Cree drum group formed in Frog Lake, Alberta, in 2001. They
made their first performance at the Samson Cree First Nation Pow-wow and are
known for their contemporary approach to traditional Cree round dance music. The
group performs sacred songs with hand drums struck in unison, a musical
tradition that the Plains Cree received from the Assiniboine in the late 19th
century. Their album Mewasinsational – Cree Round Dance Songs earned a Grammy
