Yvonne Gage, born on December 20, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American
singer known for her contributions to neo soul and soul music. She began singing
in the church choir and joined a local R&B band, The Soulettes, at age 14. The
band released Love at First Sight under Chicago International Music in 1980, but
Gage had already left to become a backing vocalist for Captain Sky. While
touring, she met producer Don Burnside, who produced her first solo single
