Zbigniew Preisner
Zbigniew Preisner (born May 20, 1955, in Bielsko-Biała, Poland) is a Polish
composer best known for his atmospheric film scores and his long collaboration
with director Krzysztof Kieślowski and screenwriter Krzysztof Piesiewicz.
Largely self-taught in music, he studied history and philosophy at Jagiellonian
University in Kraków and became involved with the Kraków cabaret Piwnica pod
Baranami in 1978. His film-scoring career began with Antoni Krauze’s Prognoza
pogody (Weather Forecast) in 1981, followed by a prolific collaboration with
