9ice
Akande Abolore Adegbola Alexander, known professionally as 9ice, was born on
January 17, 1980, in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria. 9ice is a singer and
songwriter known for the use of the Yoruba language and proverbial lyrics. In
2000, 9ice released the first official solo song, “Little Money”. A breakthrough
followed with the release of the single “Gongo Aso” (2008), which led to a
performance at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Tribute concert in London.
Awards include Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards
