Samay
Samay is a world music group band based in Leeds, England, consisting of Jesse
Bannister, Soumik Datta, Giuliano Modarelli, Bhupinder Singh Chaggar, and later
Kenneth Higgins. The group’s work combined traditional Indian instrumentation
with jazz, flamenco, samba, funk, chill‑out elements, leading to performances at
prominent festivals such as Moor Music Festival and the City of London Festival.
In 2008, they released the album Songs for a Global Journey. The band supported
the album with appearances at the Musicport World Music Festival and the London
Jazz Festival.
